Supplying the public sector or major companies through tendering for work is challenging but can be done by smaller businesses and social enterprises.
Starting to tender is daunting: there’s often an enormous list of requirements from the buyer before you get to what they actually want to buy. Those secondary requirements can sometimes be overwhelming and that’s where we come in.
We work with SME’s and social enterprises to help them get started in tendering through bringing our own experience of successful tendering to the mix.
Key stumbling blocks we’ve found for organisations coming new to tendering are:
- Understanding the language used: the public sector, in particular, uses very different language to the private sector
- The number and range of support documents (policies, procedures, etc) the buyer wants
- Determining what the buyer actually wants and, from there
- Determining whether it’s economic for the organisation to tender
Winning tenders is a learning process and we use our experience in tending when with organisations to help them shortcut that process.
